Headteachers in England find students still absent for family vacations

A recent survey finds that some parents in England are not complying with new rules that prohibit schools from granting students leave from scheduled school days for family holidays. The survey of more than 800 primary-school headteachers found that a quarter of schools have fined parents for taking students out of school for family vacations during the academic year and others suspect that families may be claiming students are sick to get around the new rules.
