Maine school makes changes to American Studies units

Social studies teacher Charlie Mellon and two students recently made a presentation to district leaders about changes to the American Studies course at Freeport High School in Maine. Mellon said the four units center on questions such as, "What is the responsibility of an American?" Differences in the class from other courses include meeting every day and that students must demonstrate understanding by completing a speech, research paper or a visual project.
