Study: Teen athletes have healthier eating and oral-hygiene habits

Student-athletes were more likely to eat four meals daily or nearly daily, and were less likely to consume unhealthy snacks compared with nonathletes, according to a Finnish study on the website of the International Journal of Pediatric Dentistry. More teens in the athlete group reported brushing their teeth at least twice a day than did the control group. In both groups, girls had healthier eating habits and oral-hygiene practices, researchers said.
