Task force calls for obesity screening of all adults

With 97 million adults in the U.S. considered overweight or obese, a task force is calling on health care professionals to screen all adults for obesity and offer counseling and intervention to lose weight, if necessary. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Forces has updated its 1996 guidelines to include using body mass index, a calculation measuring obesity increasingly being embraced by mainstream health organizations.
