Task force recommends obesity screening for adults

With 97 million adults in the U.S. considered overweight or obese, a task force is calling on health care professionals to screen all adults for obesity and offer counseling and intervention to lose weight, if necessary. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Forces has updated its 1996 guidelines to include the body mass index, a calculation that determines obesity, which increasingly is being used by mainstream health organizations.
