Webcam, blog posts offer students insight into research project

Equipped with a webcam and blog, a North Carolina educator is sharing her experiences as a volunteer studying climate change at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Maryland with fifth-grade science students at her school. Cissie Brooks' blog posts have been used in classroom lessons, and her appearance via webcam provided students an opportunity to ask questions. "More students were paying attention than would have been normally," one teacher said. "They were all very much involved."
