Deficit panel's leaders are optimistic about report's approval

Leaders of President Barack Obama's deficit-cutting commission said they are more confident of getting the panel's final report approved after it was endorsed by the commission's highest-ranking lawmakers. Republican Sen. Judd Gregg and Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad said the recommendations would put the nation on course to reduce its trillion-dollar deficit.
