GAO: Some checkpoints won't get full-body scanners

About 500 airport security checkpoints will not receive full-body scanners under the Transportation Security Administration's current plans, a Senate subcommittee was told on Thursday. Stephen Lord, director of homeland security for the Government Accountability Office, said only airports with the highest passenger volumes will receive the controversial machines. Out of 2,300 checkpoints nationwide, plans call for a total of 1,800 scanners, he said.
