IRS defines eligibility for health care break

The Internal Revenue Service has issued requirements for a new health care credit for small businesses and nonprofit groups that affect taxes this year. The program will offer a tax break of up to 35% for small businesses whose average salaries are below $50,000 and that have fewer than 25 workers. The incentive is designed to help more companies offer coverage and is expected to save businesses roughly $40 billion over the next nine years.
