Shell is pleased with developments in Alaskan drilling project

Royal Dutch Shell welcomed Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's announcement that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement is processing the company's permit to drill off Alaska's coast. "Today's announcement was a positive for Shell and a positive one for Alaska. It's one that recognizes that responsible oil development can take place in the Arctic, as it has in the past," said Curtis Smith, a company spokesman for Alaska operations. The company has been seeking approval to explore in the Beaufort Sea.
