U.S. building market improves on public works, power projects

The U.S. construction sector showed improvement in October, with activity ticking up 0.7% versus the prior month, according to the Census Bureau. Public works and the energy sector helped buoy an otherwise weak market for private nonresidential and single-family residential construction. Public construction rose 0.4%, while power construction was up 8.8%.
