Too many bosses take a pressure-cooker approach to leadership development, throwing their best workers into deadline-driven challenges to see who snaps. That approach is fine for "Celebrity Apprentice," writes Jennifer V. Miller, but in the real world, bosses should frame leadership development as an opportunity, not a series of insanely stressful tests. "High-stakes project work makes for great reality TV, but it has no place in the learning environment," Miller writes.
