Cloud tools put tech industry in unprecedented transition, experts say

The shift to next-generation technologies such as mobile networking and cloud computing will force many entrenched tech firms to keep up or face gradual obsolescence as emerging markets and startups add competitive pressure from all sides, according to a study by IDC. With companies expected to spend $60 billion on cloud products and services alone next year, experts say the pressure is on for stalwarts such as Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Cisco -- some of which will not be around ten years from now, notes Frank Gens, chief analyst with IDC.
