CMS expects to manage more claims data after ACA implementation

The CMS expects an increase in the Medicare and Medicaid data that it manages when the Affordable Care Act is fully implemented in 2015. By that year, data related to Medicare claims could nearly double and reach 700 terabytes, while Medicaid claims information could more than triple to 100 terabytes. The agency is focusing its efforts on using enterprise and shared services as well as developing the capabilities needed to gather, assess and leverage real-time data to address the challenge.
