Accor to divide into two units: HotelServices and HotelInvest

Accor Chairman and CEO Sebastien Bazin has unveiled a reorganization plan for the company that would separate it into two business units. The HotelServices unit will function as a franchisor and operator of 3,600 properties in Accor's portfolio. The HotelInvest unit will focus on investments in hotel assets and will control about 1,400 hotels that are fully or partially owned by the hotel firm. The company will also restructure its brand portfolio under three segments -- budget, midscale and upscale -- and reorganize its global operations according to geography.
