FDA urges providers to use registered compounding pharmacies

Health care providers including physicians will be urged by the FDA to use only registered drug compounders under the Drug Quality and Security Act that President Barack Obama recently signed into law. "We'll be encouraging health care providers and health networks to consider strongly purchasing products from FDA-registered and -regulated facilities," FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg said Monday. "This will be a critical step they can take to better ensure the health and safety of their patients."
