Mass. legislative panel advances 10-year ban on fracking

An environmental panel of the Massachusetts legislature approved a bill last week to ban hydraulic fracturing in the state through 2024. The bill also seeks to prohibit storage and processing of wastewater and other fracking byproducts in the state. The bill still must pass debates in the state House and Senate before reaching Gov. Deval Patrick's office for approval.
