Oregon's student-teacher ratio hits new high

Classrooms in Oregon schools contained about 22 students per teacher in the 2012-13 school year, according to recent data. The figures represent new highs for teachers in Oregon, with 22.6 high-school students per teacher and 21.4 elementary-school students per teacher, about 35% higher than the national average. In some cases, classes of between 30 and 35 students have been reported.
