Simulation makes NICU nurses aware of stress factors facing preemies

NICU nurses at University of North Carolina Hospitals participated in a simulation program that gave them an idea of the stress felt by premature infants. The nurses were treated like infants by being awakened from their sleep, having diapers changed and being hooked up to noisy machines. Afterward, they said they would change the way they practice by slowing down and doing one task at a time.
