U.S. airlines comply with China's air defense zone

American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are not flying through an air defense zone recently declared by China. The zone over the East China Sea includes islands that both Japan and China claim as sovereign territory. An official with the Obama administration said the government recommends airline compliance with the defense zone, although the U.S. military is still flying through the zone.
