Report questions authenticity of Houston student accomplishments

Although the Bush administration has promoted Texas' standardized testing system as a model for the rest of the nation, Houston students' achievement, as measured by their performance on the national Stanford exam, was, in reality, modest. A comparison by New York Times revealed that student average score gains on the Stanford test were about a third of the average gain in scores on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills.
