Fed to continue 3 programs that seek to thaw credit markets

The Federal Reserve plans to extend three emergency lending programs as financial system turmoil continues. The programs -- loans to bond dealers, loans to banks buying asset-backed commercial paper from mutual funds, and auction loans of Treasury securities -- are aimed at loosening credit markets.
