SEC warns CEOs not to cut compliance when slashing costs

Lori Richards, head of the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations at the Securities and Exchange Commission, told financial firms not to undermine their compliance plans while cutting costs in difficult times. She wrote to CEOs that they must "be vigilant and proactive" in meeting high standards when dealing with investors.
