State education leaders push for more involvement in education policy

President-elect Barack Obama has yet to name his secretary of education, but education chiefs from 10 states are already meeting with his advisers to help map out a plan for that cabinet member's first 100 days. The state leaders, which included Susan Gendron, of Maine, said they hoped the federal government would accept more state-level ideas on education.
