States want stimulus projects chosen carefully

Public works projects won't end the recession unless they are chosen carefully and implemented rapidly, some state governors warn. The call for caution comes as President-elect Barack Obama promises to implement a stimulus program that will pump $136 billion into state infrastructure programs. "We all know about the bridges to nowhere," said Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine. "But we also know the projects that are critical to moving people around."
