Texas index shows production is cycling downward

Petroleum economist Karr Ingham says oil and natural gas production in Texas has peaked from a record high and turned downward, a direction that will affect the state's revenues. The Texas Petro Index, which gathers information on oil and gas prices, rig counts, drilling permits, well completions and industry employment, hit a record of 282.3 in September but dropped to 282 in October.
