Text message guides surgeon to amputate arm in Congo

A British surgeon operating on a boy's shattered arm in the Congo recently saved his life by successfully amputating the limb after a colleague in London sent him instructions on performing the difficult and risky procedure via a text message. "I had never done this operation before, but I knew a colleague in London who had, so I texted him," said the surgeon, David Nott. "He sent me two very long text messages back explaining how to do the operation step by step."
