To motivate your employees, stop trying to put fire in their belly and focus instead on practical details, says Roy Vallee, chief of electronics-distribution firm Avnet. Most employees are already passionate about their jobs, Vallee says, so the best way to motivate them is simply to give them clear instructions and the tools they need to get the job done.
