Transportation committee asks for $69B stimulus

House Transportation Committee Chairman James Oberstar, D-Minn., is asking that a second federal stimulus package include $69 billion in transportation funding. The injection could finance some 9,500 "shovel ready" construction projects nationwide. Michigan already has a wish list of 300 projects, while Virginia, Maryland and D.C. together have identified 165 projects.
