California agency approves Central Valley high-speed segment

The California High-Speed Rail Authority has voted unanimously for a plan to build the first segment of the state's high-speed rail line through 65 miles of the Central Valley. Construction will cost $4.3 billion, and the tracks built will connect with a freight line used by Amtrak.
