Modeling isn't an exact science, green-building experts warn

Energy models are an important part of the design process for green builders, but experts warn that a clumsily applied model can cause big problems further down the line. Feed the wrong numbers into your model or pick the wrong software tool and energy savings are unlikely to meet your expectations. "If someone makes a mistake or you make an assumption, then there goes your efficiency," says Mark DeGasparre of Century Engineering.
