Metal toxicity is a frequent cause of seizures, vomiting and diarrhea in pet birds, especially otherwise healthy birds who have free roam of the house, according to veterinarian Ariana Finkelstein. Radiographs are used to confirm the metal ingestion, and treatment involves blocking the metal's absorption into the bloodstream and providing supportive care.
