Consortium aims to simplify testing and design of medical devices

In an effort to spur the development of new technology, the FDA announced it would join medical device manufacturers in a public-private partnership to accelerate product approvals. The Medical Device Innovation Consortium would seek input from government, industry and academia, and it has already raised a half-million dollars from industry members, an amount it hopes to double, according to interim director Maura Donovan.
