Grand jury begins probe of NECC

A grand jury started investigating the New England Compounding Center, issuing subpoenas to employees of the drug compounder and Medical Sales Management, a firm that handled administrative support and sales for NECC, former employees of both companies say. Prosecutors are likely to focus on three charges: defrauding Medicaid or Medicare, fraud, and selling tainted medicines in violation of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.
