LevelUp's recent growth is just the beginning, founder says

The growth of mobile shopping has boosted the number of users who have downloaded the payment- and loyalty-program application LevelUp to a half million, Chantal Tode writes. "Adoption of mobile payments, both on the consumer and merchant side, has been growing at a solid clip, but it needs to grow a lot -- like, a lot more -- before mobile payments hits the mainstream," LevelUp founder Seth Priebatsch says. Still, the app is increasingly popular among retailers and restaurants such as Larkburger, and Priebatsch predicts a shakeout soon because of the sheer number of players.
