Mexico mulls 50% chewing gum tax

Lawmakers in Mexico are considering charging confectioners a 50% levy on chewing gum to pay for street clean-up. "We often see people sticking chewing gum where they like," said Juan Manuel Diez Francos of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which will take power this month. "We don't want to put the cost on the citizens."
