Voyager 1 discovers solar system's final layer

The Voyager 1 spacecraft appears to be at the solar system's final edge, and it has discovered what scientists are calling the "magnetic highway," a region in which particles are exchanged from within and outside the solar system. "We do believe this may be the very last layer between us and interstellar space," said Voyager scientist Edward Stone. "This region was not anticipated, was not predicted."
