Colo. DOT: Repairs of roads destroyed by September floods may take 4 years

Emergency repairs have been completed on roads in Colorado damaged by September flooding. Now the state's Department of Transportation must consider how best to conduct permanent repairs and make the 485 miles of damaged roadway more sustainable. Particular attention is being paid to U.S. 34, which had been destroyed in a flood in 1976 and reconstructed "to supposedly withstand another catastrophic flood." Gov. John Hickenlooper said, "It was built to be indestructible. You see that it is very hard to be indestructible."
