The key to supply chains' successful business-to-business e-commerce is to incorporate their sites to back-end systems such as enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management systems, writes Linda Taddonio, chief e-commerce strategy officer at Insite Software. Through this, manufacturers and distributors are able to automatically update their sites and systems for customers' online and offline information, she adds. "Weaving e-commerce into an organization's business functions is essential to increase productivity, eliminate duplication of effort, and reduce errors, which will result in improved margins," Taddonio writes.
