Competition will drive cloud-computing capacity, IDC says

Increasing competition in the cloud-services market will spur vendors to expand computing capacity next year, and the big benefactors will be software developers, research firm IDC predicts. "I wouldn't be surprised to see them grow their cloud data centers by 20%," said Frank Gens, an IDC analyst. Gens predicts a tenfold increase in cloud applications built in the next three years.
