Doctors who use EHRs while talking to patients may miss health risks

Physicians who perform electronic tasks and work simultaneously run the risk of missing signs of depression, disagreement and lack of understanding in patients, according to an opinion piece in the Annals of Internal Medicine. "Reducing texting while doctoring will decrease the hazards of distracted physicians making perceptual and cognitive errors during the medical encounter," the authors noted.
