Healthy snacking trend reflected in products, packaging

Consumers are turning to healthier options for snacking as concerns over weight and health continue to increase, and manufacturers are reformulating products with natural, raw and organic ingredients, such as seeds, nuts, vegetables, whole grains, superfruits and probiotics, and creating cleaner labels and packages, according to Datamonitor Group analysts. More than half the consumers Datamonitor surveyed base food choices on whether products have natural ingredients and are free of GMOs or artificial additives.
