Md. college offers classes at state prisons

Maryland's Goucher College is offering credit courses to inmates at state prisons. The privately funded program, which offers free tuition and books, currently is serving about 60 inmates at men's and women's prisons in Anne Arundel County. Goucher joins other institutions such as Bard College, Wesleyan University and Cornell University in offering such a program, which advocates say can lower recidivism rates when inmates are released.
