Alaska Native group screens for type 2 diabetes

Ketchikan dietitian Carey Guthrie promotes Alaskan Native dietary traditions among young people as a way to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. The Ketchikan Indian Community Tribal Health Clinic and the Native medical center routinely screen for type 2 diabetes in children and have found recently that an increasing number have the disease.
