Detroiters may ultimately choose school control system

Yesterday, the Michigan House approved a plan to hold a special ballot in March 2004 allowing Detroit voters to choose between an elected school board system or mayoral control of the city's public schools. Currently, a board appointed by the governor and the mayor elects the CEO of the Detroit Public Schools system.
