Fairfax, Va. schools chief to leave next March

Daniel A. Domenech, the superintendent of Fairfax public schools since 1998, unexpectedly announced he would resign March 3, 2004 to work for the textbook publishing company McGraw-Hill. The politically-savvy superintendent is credited with expanding the number of students taking the SAT and Advanced Placement courses and bringing full-day kindergarten to low-performing schools.
