Gannett trying to prove local news "mojo" online

Based on the belief that readers want regular updates of local news, Gannett is experimenting with a new corps of mobile journalists, or "mojos," who file several stories a day from laptops in their cars to Web sites and print editions for the company's newspapers. This "hyper-local" emphasis is accompanied by online databases with traffic information and school class sizes, and lots of reader-generated content, including photos of readers' kids with Santa.
