Medical College gets funding for organ transplant research

The Carlos and Marguerite Mason Trust has awarded a three-year, $1 million grant to Medical College of Georgia for additional research into manipulating a molecule, known as indoleamine 2,3 dioxygenase, to affect the body's immune system and reduce organ transplant rejection. MCG researchers hope to start testing with nonhuman primates during the third year of the grant.
