October factory orders drop 5.1%, Commerce Department says

U.S. factory orders fell by 5.1% in October, the steepest decline since July 2000, according to the Commerce Department. Analysts attribute the drop to cuts in demand for steel, computers, autos, and heavy machinery, and they expect manufacturing to remain under pressure for several months.
