LGBT leaders meet for silver-anniversary conference

The 25th International Gay and Lesbian Leadership Conference kicked off Thursday in San Francisco with a City Hall reception attended by Mayor Gavin Newsom and hundreds of out leaders. Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute, said current leaders take their inspiration from San Francisco-based LGBT-rights pioneer Harvey Milk. "Thirty years ago he asked us to follow him out of the closet, into the streets and all the way to a seat at the table of power ... and we have," Wolfe said.
